Born Barbara Davis Sherry, is the first born and only child of Bette Davis and William Grant Sherry. When Bette married her All About Eve co-star Gary Merill, he adopted her she took his last name. She has appeared in two of her mother's movie. One as an infant in Payment on Demand and the other as a teenager playing the neighbor's daughter in one of her mother's most famous movie in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? At sixteen, she married Seven Art Film executive Jeremy Hyman with full support from her mother.
In 1985, she published a ''tell-all'' book titled My Mother Keeper stating that her mother was a self-centered emotionally abusive alcoholic. When Bette find out of the book publication, she never spoke to her again and she disinherited her and her grandchildren.
Today she is a pastor of her born-again Christian church in Charlottesville, Virginia.
